Coastty
macOS

Install Coastty.

Download the app, or install it with Homebrew. Coastty runs on macOS Golden Gate.

Open the disk image and drag Coastty to Applications. Coastty does not update itself yet, so Homebrew is the easier way to stay up to date.

Homebrew

Or install it with Homebrew.

The cask installs the app and puts the coastty command on your PATH. brew upgrade keeps it up to date.

$brew tap ehs5/coastty https://github.com/ehs5/coastty
$brew install --cask coastty
From source

Or build it yourself.

You need Zig 0.16 and a recent Xcode.

$git clone https://github.com/ehs5/coastty
$cd coastty
$zig build -Doptimize=ReleaseFast
$cp -R zig-out/Coastty.app /Applications/
After installing

Three things to know.

Coastty uses Ghostty's configuration format but keeps its own file, so your Ghostty setup stays as it is.

  • Your config goes in ~/.config/coastty/config.coastty, and Ghostty's documentation applies to it.
  • Inside Coastty, the coastty command is already on your PATH. To use it from other terminals, choose Coastty › Install 'coastty' command in PATH. Homebrew does this for you.
  • coastty skill install teaches Claude Code the layout commands, so your agents can arrange your tabs.
